Dispatchers in BOS control centers are increasingly confronted with calls in foreign languages. Regardless of whether the dispatcher does not speak the language (sufficiently) or it is an exotic foreign language – NoraTec can now offer a future-oriented solution together with Frequentis:
The new feature “Live Translation” enables DIASSOPweb and the ASGARD communication system to translate almost all foreign languages in real time for the dispatcher.
How does it work?
When the incoming foreign language of the caller is recognized, it is translated into German. The translation is provided to the dispatcher as an audio file via the headset and displayed in converted text form in the chat history of DIASSOPweb (“Speech to text”).
The dispatcher then answers in text form using the predefined questions from DIASSOPweb. The text is translated into the language of the emergency caller and transmitted in speech form (“text to speech”).
In this way, (almost) every foreign-language call can be handled promptly and purposefully by the dispatcher.
With this pioneering solution, we can contribute to the modern and secure handling of emergency calls.
